Another day another sketch! This time at Bacchanal. Amazing live music provided from Pete Olynciw Quartet. Bacchanal is a cool famous for its’ wine selections and great live music vibes spot in New Orleans next to abandoned military base full of graffs. I really wanted to explore that military base, but everyone warned me that it’s dangerous. Ah, maybe next time! On my way from there as I had to mostly walk, because I didn’t want to get a taxi, I also encountered some curious street art pieces, some of them quite humorous, haha!

“SECOND LINE”, “YOUNG FELLAZ BRASS BAND”, N.O.L.A., USA, ‘23.
At that same night after Apple and Barrel I managed to capture a second line! Such an amazing experience! This is absolutely favorite thing of mine from New Orleans! I want to go back there and sketch only second lines! Love them! This sketch turned out to be quite abstract, because I almost had to run and sketch. The pace of walking was very quick and I had to capture the energy of the music. This sketch is very abstract, so probably it will be difficult to recognise anyone on it. Also, the video here is not from the same time when the sketch is created. I just decided to show the video of different second line I encountered for those who never seen a second line. On the sketch and on the video though Young Fellaz Brass Band are performing as I remember.

This was a nice day. Got to this bar to hide from the hot weather, this cool band was playing. Managed to sketch them and meet them afterwords. Always nice to meet the musicians! Closer to the end of their performance someone approached their tip bucket and stole all their tips, pretending they are leaving a tip. How terrible. Apparently this is a practice. Shame.

One more drawing from the first day of Jazz Fest which I missed posting before starting with the drawings of the second day. Hah! This one though was absolutely amazing for me!!! Wu- Tang Clan and The Soul Rebels!!! Can’t get better than this! I was so happy to witness these two bands playing together live! And also be able to sketch them! And also be contacted from Soul Rebels guys later for a copy of my drawing. This is why New Orleans is so special! You can meet the big musicians there and actually communicate with them!

And this is a wrap up for my first New Orleans trip! I sketched until the last possible minute! Until 1 am. at Frenchmen Str. where the absolutely brilliant Young Fellaz Brass Band passed by with their Second Line and let me know they are there, so I can sketch them. For 25 days I managed to make so many new friends in this legendary city!!! Last slides in this album are just photo dump of some New Orleans photos and videos. In no time I will be back again! Love New Orleans and its’ music, art, people, everything!
